I go to East Rock and I play baseball, basketball, and football.

Growing up throughout school, reading has never really been my thing. I was normally playing sports, or outside doing something every ordinary boy does. In elementary school, I preferred picture books, in middle school, I preferred short chapter books, and now that I’m in high school, I just don’t read at all. I finally have found a book that I like, and it is called I Am Number Four. I hate to admit this, but I actually love it. I recommend it because it is action packed, has a lot of different genres that blend so well, and the story behind it is not your everyday story.

I Am Number Four is extremely action-packed. There are aliens called Mogadorians and their ultimate goal is to take over Earth. There are more alien figures with superpowers called Loric and they live on Earth. The Mogadorians try to hunt down and kill the Loric so they can take over Earth. The book is narrated by a Loric and the Mogadorians are trying to hunt him down personally. All the conflict in this book is what makes it action filled.

Anybody can read this book because the genres blend so well. During all the action there is a relationship between John (Number Four) and this girl named Sarah. I think this relationship helps cool his emotions and it gets his mind off all the conflicts. I am Number Four is not a primary guy book , or a primary girl book; anyone can read it.
How many books have you read where there are aliens acting as humans trying to survive on Earth without getting noticed? Probably not many. The fact that he is an actual alien but disguised as a human blows my mind. One of my personal pet peeves is not doing the little things right. I can’t stand reading many books because they focus on the main topic too much. This book exceeds my personal liking because it goes in depth with all his super powers, it explains everything well, and it has more than one topic.
Looking back to when I was little, I take reading for granted. Everyone has always told me that “The book is better than the movie!” and I’m finally starting to realize that they were right. Now that I’ve read one book and liked it, I think I might be able to find more books that I like. Thanks to this book, I have found a new love for reading.
