Similar to The Boy Who Cried Wolf and The Little Red Hen, Hattie and the Fox brings together the barnyard in a refreshing way. Hattie can see the nose and eyes in the bushes, but the goose, the pig, the horse, and the cow don't seem to want to listen to her warning. A simple story with rhythmic repetition of each of the animal's voices, Hattie tries to convince her neighbors of the danger than lurks nearby, but they simply question her again and again. Thank goodness the cow has a loud moo.
