I like to do karate with my best friend
I think the best part was when Billy got on stage for his mother and when he gave a few gifts to his teacher. Billy and a girl get into an argument, and his teacher walks by them. He put two red markers on his head to be mean to the girl. His teacher was wearing red chopsticks in her hair and, made a gesture to Billy. H felt bad and wanted to do something to apologize.
The only part of the book I don't like is the beginning. I don't feel like it gives a good enough intro. It doesn't really give detail at the beginning. I think if the author would have put a little more detail at the beginning, the book would have been even better.
Billy Miller is my favorite character. The reason he is my favorite is that he is the main character, and he seems to be a lot like me. I made mistakes in real life that are very similar to the ones Billy did in the book. Billy is a very kind person in the book and I am in real life.
My least favorite character is the babysitter. The reason I don't like her is that she is not in the book much and I don't know a lot about her. All the author says about her is her name. I would like to know more about her, like where she is from, how old she is, and what her personality is.
The story is about how Billy has been kind. “And then, because he felt so good, and because he could not stop himself, he leaned into the silent microphone and exclaimed in a voice meant just for Mama, ‘This is the Year of Billy Miller’” (229). The book also shows that Billy loves the things that he is around a lot. “Sal sniffled. ‘I’m okay. It was just a leftover cry. She sniffled again. ‘But the Drop Sisters might cry. I just told them that Mama and Papa are gone’” (119). Sal is Billy’s sister, and they are just out of town.
Billy wanted to do something nice for his teacher, because his teacher was wearing red chopsticks in her hair, and he had red markers in his hair to make fun of the person beside him, so he brought in some silver items because her name is Ms. Silver. The teacher said it was the year of the rabbit, so he brought in a silver rabbit.
The animals had been Mama’s when she was a girl and they’d been on Billy’s desk for as long as he could remember. The rabbit will be perfect, he thought, recalling that Ms.Silver had noted in her letter that it was the year of the Rabbit. He picked it up, turned the little things in his hand. It was only and inch and a half high. Billy shoved the rabbit into his pocket with his other silver things. (37)
Overall, the book was very good. The worst thing is the beginning, and the best part is when Billy gives gifts to his teacher, and when he does a speech for his mom on stage. I would recommend this book to people who likes realistic fiction books, or people who have previously red the book Wonder.
