I am a ninth grader at East Rockingham High School.
The first reason I really enjoyed Black Ice is because of how intriguing the subject is. The subject is kidnapping, which is something I’ve never experienced. Though I hope to never experience being kidnapped, Becca Fitzpatrick makes the reader feel as if you’re actually experience the fright that Britt is. The other subject is romance. Britt clearly still has strong feelings for her ex-boyfriend, Calvin.
I also really enjoyed Black Ice because of how relatable the main character, Britt Pfeiffer, is. Though she may be going through a rough situation she is still very similar to me. Britt is a normal teenage girl who really enjoys reading and blue raspberry Slurpees. We both look similar because we both have long dark brown hair and blue eyes. We also both have a friend who is always trying to outdo us in everything.
The last reason I loved Black Ice is because of how Becca FItzpatrick created an addicting world filled with suspense. The book has an exciting twisting plot that will easily draw in any suspense lover. The tone is another I really enjoyed. Neither Britt or the reader knows who the killer is which raises the suspense level significantly. The setting that Becca Fitzpatrick chose is very exciting and makes Black Ice even more interesting. The story is set in the Teton Mountain Range where it is constantly snowing which makes it even harder for Britt to survive, let alone escape.
Will Britt Pfeiffer and her BFF make it off of the mountain? Or will the two mysterious men hurt her? I would most definitely recommend Black Ice for anyone that is looking for a fun, suspenseful, and mysterious read.
