I am one of the librarians at BHS and I love books, audiobooks and theatre!
What should have been a typical Friday night explodes into racial violence when 16-year-old Rashad is accused of a crime that he didn't commit. He is dragged out of a store and severely beaten by a cop. Classmate Quinn and several others see the incident but do nothing to stop it. Nobbs and Lockard infuse this audiobook with realistic energy and attitude, making the listener really think about the situation. Authors Reynolds and Kiely have created very authentic characters who are dealing with issues of stereotyping, race, and community. It is an honest, timely very important book. Fans of How It Went Down will likely enjoy this fast paced read or listen.
