This book is about Dave Pelzer. Dave had a wonderful life until his mother started drinking a lot. Then his father started drinking too and working a lot. After, his mother got done drinking she beat him. Then she sent him to go live in the basement.
Most of the time his father worked, then he went to the bar to get drunk so he wouldn't have to deal with his wife. Dave had two brothers, but they weren't beaten. After a while his mother brainwashed his brothers. So, now they beat him too. Day after day and year after year Dave was beaten and one time even stabbed. Then, one day his father had enough and moved into a hotel. That just set her off which meant he was going to get beaten a lot worse. After, they dropped off his father's stuff they went home and as soon as they got in the house his mother said, " Now no one can help you get away from me".
